4.61 - folders with new mail not highlighting
Just updated to 4.61 and when my Autofilters move new mail to their respective folders, the folder name does not go bold, even though I have that option enabled.
Anyone know if this is a problem and if there's a fix?
Running on XP Pro 32bit.
Thank you

I cannot duplicate this unless it's exclusively encountered with auto-filtering which I don't use ("classic" filtering I do): Does coloring work?

Re: 4.61 - folders with new mail not highlighting
It used to be fine with 4.52.
I haven't used the old fitering since Autofiltering became an option.
Test 1. I've just created a filter, and yes, the destination folder turned bold.
Test 2. Cancelled the filter (deleted) and enabled and configured Autofilter and the folder stayed unbold. So the problem is only with the autofilter.
Also, not sure if it makes any difference, but I almost exclusively use folder Preview Mode.
One occassional glitch I noticed in 4.52 was if the previously viewed folder was active when clicking on the New Mail folder and there was new mail autofiltered to that folder, it didn't always, but did mostly go bold, Hope that makes sense. This makes no difference in 4.61. It just doesn't work for me.
I've "upgraded" back to 4.52 for now, until a fix for this found/created
Thank you.
Cheers

Does coloring work and if so isn't this an option for you instead of downgrading (just wondering)?

Some of the folders already have old (non recent) "new" messages, so the folder is already coloured, but the folder doesn't go bold when a new (recent) "new" message is added via the Autofilter.
I've just done another test with 4.61 where the folder had no unread messages and the autofilter moved a new message to that folder and coloured the folder name with the non recent new message colour, but did not make the folder text bold which is the recent new message colour.
I've rechecked the options and different colours are set for unread mail and recent unread mail, and the options to use bold to emphasize New Mail and Folders With Recent Mail are both enabled.

Not sure what you mean here, I'm using v4.52 right now and my autofilter folders turn green when there are either old or new unread messages in the folder. V4.61 works the same way for me..

Same for me, in autofiltering folders (and others) new mail from the session is shown with the folder name in bold, from older session it's only green. BTW: I'd like the same on the trays when a folder inside is hilighted.

From the menu go to Tools / Options / Incoming Mail / Folder Behaviours. (This image is of 4.52 which has a trace of 4.61 due to installing 4.52 over the top of 4.61)

You can see that the two top options are enabled. This colours folders in red for unread mail where you have opened/viewed the folder, and Bold where there is new mail where you haven't yet opened/viewed the folder eg (John B).
In 4.61, the John B folder is the same colour/font as the rest of the unread folders.eg. same as Jessica So this means you cannot tell where a new message has been autofiltered to.
I hope this explains what I am talking about.
Thank you.
Cheers.

Re: 4.61 - folders with new mail not highlighting
I'm using both autofiltering and the older manual filters and in both cases the folders go bold after receiving new mail.

XP(SP3).
I'm intrigued. Using a different colour for "Recent" obviates the need for bolding. Does that not work?

Works the same way for me as "Caisson" in both Win7 32 and WinXP 32. Actually v4.61 works exactly like v4.52 and earlier in this instance. I may of course not be understanding exactly what you are saying v4.61 is doing different than v4.52.

Re: 4.61 - folders with new mail not highlighting

I'd prefer not to change my colour setup but I'll give it a shot and see if I can get used to it. I know that green is really hard to see, so I might give blue a go.
Ok, just reinstalled 4.61 and selected Red for Folder Colour With Recent Unread Mail, and the folder didn't go Red. It changed to the blue "non recent" unread message colour.
If you look at the same "John B" folder as per my previous post, you will see that even though a new message was moved to it, it turned blue, instead of red. And it didn't go bold either. Turning the bold oprion off doesn't make any difference, the folder name still goes blue.

So the problem doesn't seem to exist with only the tick (turn bold) option, but also with the colour option. Looks like I need to get that second colour option working first and then work on the bold problem.
I remember this being a problem in a previous release and David fixed it rather quickly. But I can't find my previous correspondence on which version it was. Just looking at the versions I have, I think the problem was in 4.12a and fixed in 4.21b. But please don't quote me.
I may need to do a fresh install but I'd like to preserve my settings and configuration. I'll search the forum on how to do this.
Thank you.
Cheers

Re: 4.61 - folders with new mail not highlighting
Ok, just reinstalled 4.61 and selected Red for Folder Colour With Recent Unread Mail, and the folder didn't go Red. It changed to the blue "non recent" unread message colour.
When I tried first to change the colours the new settings did not stick. I unchecked the two check boxes below the colours and it then worked. Don't know if that was coincidence only,
as I did not need to do that that thereafter.
AFAIK any change you make to colour and font should be reflected in the relevant pmail.ini file in each user mailbox under colours and integer preference block 1, so check there to see if changes
are being effected.
I see that Thomas Stephenson has been involved and he should be of more use to you.
Cheers,

As the options are set and working correctly in 4.52 that suggests the options are correctly set in the PMAIL.INI file.
AFAIK any change you make to colour and font should be reflected in the relevant pmail.ini file in each user mailbox under colours and integer preference block 1, so check there to see if changes are being effected.
I'll do some testing to see if changes are saving in 4.61. As previously indicated, they do save correctly in 4.52.
I see that Thomas Stephenson has been involved and he should be of more use to you.
Thank you. Will be interesting to see what he might know about this now that it is being narrowed down.
With no options enabled, I get the string "15 24000 17 0 10 0 0 7 1 1 0 0 0 0 0 0"
With the first option enabled I get the string "4111 24000 17 0 10 0 0 7 1 1 0 0 0 0 0 0"
With the second option enabled I get the string "8207 24000 17 0 10 0 0 7 1 1 0 0 0 0 0 0"
And with both enabled I get the string "12303 24000 17 0 10 0 0 7 1 1 0 0 0 0 0 0"
The above results are the same with 4.52 and 4.61. So changes are being saved to the INI file.
Cheers.
