    Thomas R. Stephenson:

Here's my problem....the help manual says: "To have a rule set applied automatically, right-click the folder in the Folder Manager window  and select either Attach folder-open filter set or Attach folder-close filter set."

When using a close filter attached to a folderyou must actually close the folder.  When previewing folders moving to the next folder is not a close, neither is closing the folder view.   Open the folder and close it an then the close filter is triggered.  This is done for obvious reasons, you really do not want the close filter to trigger when just moving through the folder listing.

Opening and closing the actual folder or even closing Pegasus doesn't work.

Do I have to "apply general rule set to folder" every time I re-open Pegasus. (I guess I assumed it would remember between sessions.)

You need to attach the general rule set to the folder as either an open or close filter.  It can be attached as both if you wish.  That said if you are working on the deleted messages folder and you are saving deleted messages then this deletion will simply put the deleted message into the deleted messages folder.

The only way to do a permanent delete from the deleted messages folder is to use the CTRL+Delete (CTRL+Confirm) the message.

From my experimenting, I've found that I can apply a general rule set to my deleted messages folder and permanently delete the messages I've targeted in the rule set.

It doesn't work when I open or close the deleted messages folder, only when I click "apply general rule set to folder."

I still have the feeling that either you haven't really attached a rule set or you're working in preview mode. Have a look at the picture below and note the tick.

    filterclose

You're right, I just have to break my habit of working in preview mode if I want this to work as designed.

Question: I have the check mark next to "Attach folder- open filter set" & "Attach folder- close filter set." If I decide to, how do I remove these at a later time?

    THANKS!!!!

Take another look at the screenshot: The (menu) option you're looking for is the one exactly below the ticked one ...

Just to clarify this - you can get 'on-close' filters to work in preview mode but you have to fully open the folder in it's own window ( by double-clicking or pressing return).  The filters are applied when you close this window and return to the 3-pane view.
