Re: 4.61 - folders with new mail not highlighting
Don't think the os has anything to do with it.
I'm running XP(SP3) on both a laptop and a desktop and cannot replicate this behaviour on either.
One was an upgrade and one a clean instal.

I must admit I was surprised my laptop showed the same problem as my desktop.
And I've got no idea why 4.52 works, but 4.61 Autofilters doesn't.
I really don't want to change all my Autofilters to Manual filters, but if that's the only way to "fix" the problem, that is what I will have to do.
Once again, thank you for your time and efforts.
Cheers.

Yes, its a strange thing. As an experiment I deleted all my manual filters and activated autofiltering on all my folders, just as a check.
Everything works as it should, ie colours and bold text.

Re: 4.61 - folders with new mail not highlighting
I wonder if the problem has something to do with me upgrading Pegasus since maybe the last decade of the last century.
As another experiment, I'll install another copy of 4.61 to a different directory where it can't see any of my existing Pegasus. I'll sent it some new mail and see what that does.
I did delete all traces of the program, but of course I kept all my message folders and config files. I'll report back on what I find.
In the mean time I've been redoing some of the manual filters getting ready to go to 4.61 on my desktop.
I do hope I can find the problem.
And yes, I'll try the other suggestions you provided too, at some stage.
Cheers.

Re: 4.61 - folders with new mail not highlighting
Just installed a seperate copy of 4.61 on my desktop and still no success. Manual filtering makes the changes but Autofiltering doesn't. Oh well.
Cheers

Re: 4.61 - folders with new mail not highlighting
Is the issue now one of fonts (bold or not) only? Do different colours come up denoting unread and and recent mail? -- James Quigley

The typeface isn't an issue, as it's the same over all of Pegasus as far as I know.
Do different colours come up denoting unread and and recent mail?
Not for me on both PC systems. The colour changes to the unrecent colour for recent mail, and doesn't go bold. This is for the folder name only. Message font/colours within the folder appear to be working fine.

Re: 4.61 - folders with new mail not highlighting
Just to be clear about what you are saying - there are two colour options, one for unread mail, that persists from session to session and one for recent mail, that applies to folders that receive mail after the last opening, during the course of a session. This colour does not persist from session to session and recent becomes unread. If you set different colours for the two I take it that you are never seeing the colour set for recent at any time. -- James Quigley

I believe you mean, "recent becomes unrecent" once you open that folder.

That is correct. I only ever see the unrecent colour in 4.61. In 4.52 I would see both colours.
But do remember that this problem exists only for mail sorted via the Autofilter. Mail sorted via the manual filter does correctly colour the folder names.
Thank you.
Cheers.

Re: 4.61 - folders with new mail not highlighting
There are two colour options, unread and recent unread. If you close Pmail without opening the "recent unread" folder it will become the unread colour on restart, ie, unread persists recent unread does not. There is no "unrecent". Cheers, -- James Quigley

True, there isn't an unrecent as such, but basically there is a recent colour, and an "unrecent" colour while new messages sit in folder(s). In both instances, the folders contain unread mail.
Cheers.

That is the essence of it. They both denote unread mail, albeit under different circs. Cheers, -- James Quigley

Yes.
But what I can't quite understand, is that the two colours work for Manual Filtered new mail, but both colours do not work for Autofiltered new mail for me on two PC's.
Cheers.

Re: 4.61 - folders with new mail not highlighting
I think at this point I would try a clean install to the laptop just to see if I could get it working. If you are able to, I would remove Pmail completely from that machine and do a clean install using the installation defaults. If it worked you could then look at copying the relevant parts of your desktop installation across and continuing the experiment. Cheers, -- James Quigley

I've got a clean seperate install on the desktop. I've done reboots and all, and still can't get autofilters to behave properly.
So I'm going back to manual filters until the "problem" disappears.
Thank you.
Cheers
