    Trouble with some multipart/mixed eMails

    Hello,

I've received some eMails, which couldn't be opened by pMail. When opening such an eMail, I only see the raw text with all the base64 encoded attachments. I'm still using 4.52 on Windows7, but I've tried it with a saved eMail in 4.63, which wasn't working eather. It seems that the problem occurs only in multipart/mixed eMails. So I've saved such a broken eMail and replaced the header with one of a correctly shown eMail. (except the boundary) Suddenly I was able to open that broken eMail. So I've replaced the header row by row and figured out that there is something wrong with the X-PMFLAGS.

I'm not able to open some eMails with these X-PMFLAGS:

    X-PMFLAGS: 128 0 1 P94OD3QG.CNM

    X-PMFLAGS: 1048704 0 1 POCU8VU2.CNM

    After replacing that row with:

    X-PMFLAGS: 570949632 0 1 PRDGW6TM.CNM

that eMail is shown correctly. In fact it's enough to change the first number.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Cheers,

    bb

Right-click this email in its folder before and after changing the flags and select Message properties to figure out what flag is affected.

Thanks for your reply. The message properties:

    • 'Is a valid MIME message' and
    • 'Contains data in multipart MIME format'
did the trick. Any ideas how this could happen or how to prevent it?

Not without taking a look at such a message, especially its headers, but this might not be enough.

I don't see any problems with what you sent to my "inbox" (not a good idea, BTW, because I never get notified about any submissions and it's just by chance whether I check it or not): After removing the existing X-PMFLAGS line Pegasus Mail opens the message properly for me. Please forward the CNM-file (from the new mail directory, see Help => About Pegasus Mail => Info for path information) to <beta-reports [at] pmail.gen.nz>.
