Which signature set do you have set as default?

Go to Tools / Outgoing Mail / Signatures / Default Set

    Cheers

Be aware that each Signature Set may have four Variations.
Perhaps you do not have the appropriate variant for the message format.

Review the Signatures information in the Pegasus Mail Help file.

Does the Apply button change colour when you hover your mouse over it?

    Re: Signatures do not work

    Hi

I also have problems with Signatures.

I have set up 3 Signatures and if i set one as my default and  tick "Add this variant to the default signature upon message creation" each time i compose a mail it adds this signature to my outgoing mail (Correct). However if i select "Sig" No Signature or another signature that I have set up, it still adds the default signature set in Tools-options-signatures. It doesn't  appear to be possible to override the default setting?

If i dont tick "Add this variant to the default signature upon message creation" then No signature is ever sent irrespective of what I set "Sig" to indIcate.

Is this what others are experiencing?

    Don't think so :-)

    OK

However if i select "Sig" No Signature or another signature that I have set up, it still adds the default signature set in Tools-options-signatures. It doesn't  appear to be possible to override the default setting?

In case you tell Pegasus to insert signature on creating mail (doesn't matter if new or an answer), the signature is pasted there. No chance changing it with the "SIG" selsctbox. OK - perhaps that box should be disabled.

If i dont tick "Add this variant to the default signature upon message creation" then No signature is ever sent irrespective of what I set "Sig" to indIcate.

If I choose a standared signature it is attached. But: every signature has four variants!!! And you should at least create both variants for internet-addresses: formated and text-only. Depending if you are creating formated or text-only mail, Pegasus automatically chooses the apropriate variant. The two local variants are not of interest for most users here. If you tik "add this variant ..." you choose exactly one of those variants ... but only for pasting it to created mail.

Most times it's is the better way to not insert a variant of a signature but fill at least the two variants of every signature and let Pegasus choose the aproriate variant for mailtype. That's the only way to change the used signature on mailcreation.

    bye   Olaf

    Not reading help carefully?

It seems you never recognized, that every signature has four variants. The first variant poping up when editing the signatures is the formated one for internet addresses. If you normaly send text-only messages, this variant never will be used. You have to create the text-only variant for internet messages too!!!

    Re: Signatures do not work

    Hi Thanks for the info

However could you please explain how / what the "Sig" option is used for? when creating a mail?

It seans to makes no differance If the "Add this variant of the default signature upon message creation" is ticked or not. What ever you select "Sig" to =  No signature or Signature 1/9 does not change or set a signature?

    Thanks

If you didn't choose to  "Add this variant ...", this option enables you to change the signature set as "standard signature" upon creating a mail. But in that case it will not be inserted on creating the mail but when it is sent. I'm not shure if you will see the resulting mail in the final version of the mail mailqueue (if you don't send mails immediately, they will be in queue until you send them manually).

It seans to makes no differance If the "Add this variant of the default signature upon message creation" is ticked or not. What ever you select "Sig" to =  No signature or Signature 1/9 does not change or set a signature?

Did you enter at least formated and text-only internet-version for every relevant signature? It works ... believe me. There must be something wrong in your setup of signatures. I use that every day, if I don't want the standard signature of that identity to be attached to mailtext.

    Re: Signatures do not work

    Hi

    Thanks for all your help

I have now sorted out how it works. !!!!!

    In Tools/options/signature

First I set signature 1 to have the same signature in all four options

I renamed Signature 1 as “BENJ”

I set BENJ as my default signature.

I also TICKED to make this variant to be the default when messages are created

Now with this set, each time you create a new mail you will see the signature set in BENJ in every mail. The Sig option on this page shows BENJ does not appear to have any influence on your signature. If you set it to no signature or another signature the BENJ Signature still appears in the mail and is sent out.  I think it should be greyed out!!

     Or -

I set “BENJ” as my default signature in Tools/options/signature

I DID NOT tick  to make this variant to be the default when messages are created

Now with this set, each time you create a new mail you will NOT see the signature set in BENJ. The Sig option will show BENJ. When the message is sent it will include the signature BENJ.

If you set the Sig option to no Signature then no signature is sent.

If you have set other signatures then these can also be selected

    Or -

I set “No Signature” as my default signature in Tools/options/signature

I DID NOT tick to make this variant to be the default when messages are created

Now with this set, No signature is sent. The Sig option will shows No Signature. If you change the Sig option to BENJ, the signature will not be displayed in the mail but will be sent.

If you have set other signatures then these can also be selected
