So I'm going back to manual filters until the "problem" disappears.

If the following questions can be clearly answered there might be a chance for getting it fixed (I didn't follow all the posts in this thread, after a while it just got too confusing for me):

1. Is it new to version 4.61?

2. Can anyone duplicate this on a different machine?

3. Do the different colors (simple unread and recent unread) work or not or which one doesn't?

4. If talking about bold emphasizing: Does it affect new mail or Folders with recent mail (as quoted from the options dialog)?

Hi,

One issue I have noticed when I download my mail:

1] Open PMail. 

2] You click New Mail icon. New Mail gets downloaded. The Folders with recent unread mail get marked with "Bold Red" (my recent unread mail color).

3] When you click on one of the Bold Red folders, it gets "Normal Blue" (my unread mail color) whether you read the individual mail or not.

4] You haven't closed PMail yet.

5] After some time, You click New Mail again,

6] Here, if currently any of the "Normal Blue" folders (with unopened mail) receive further "New Mail", the folder color should go back to "Bold Red". But It does not. It remains "Normal Blue".

Yes. It's is new to 4.61. It was working fine in 4.52.

Problem exists on my XP Pro 32bit Intel laptop, and XP Pro 32bit AMD desktop. Also, I've just done a clean install of Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit on my desktop (this desktop had a serious upgrade of MB CPU RAM GFX and HD for Windows 7 so is really a new (different) PC), and the problem is still there.

Simple unread is fine.

Recent Unread. The colour that exists before viewing the folder with newly added mail by the Autofiltering system. (Note, for the manual filtering system, boldening/colouring does work as it should.)

I've set it to a different colour and to go bold. Neither option is having an effect on the folders with recent mail.

If it's of any help, on page 1 of this thread, I've posted a couple of screen shots. If you look at the background (folders list) near the bottom left, you will see in the first image (4.52) the John B folder went bold, but in the second screen shot which is 4.61, the John B folder didn't go bold (or change colour in this instance).

Which filtering system are you using and does changing it make any difference?

While we are on the last days of 4.61 I've just revisited this, and the problem is still there. (No surprise I guess)

As soon as 4.62 comes out, I'll test again and post back my findings.

Just installed 4.62 and tested the colouring on an autofiltered message/folder.

The folder did not change to the recent unread mail colour as setup in Options.

The folder changed to the (old - folder opened) unread mail colour.

But when using Manual filtering, the folder colour changed correctly to the recent unread folder colour. It's only a problem with Autofiltered messages.

Weird.

I've been running a couple of folders using strictly autofiltering, of which one folder gets mail daily. Up until today, the folder name didn't go bold or change colour. But, today for whatever reason, the folder name did on one occassion go bold and change colour. I moved the message back to the new mail folder and tried again a few times, but it's back to not working.

So hghlighing the folder seems to have the ability to work, but consistently doesn't.

Just became aware of the 4.63 update so I thought I'd check this again.

Unfortunately, nothing has changed, well, folder is still not highlighting for autofiltered unread mail.

With 4.62, the folder did go bold on 2 or 3 occassions since I updated to 4.62. So it works maybe 1 out of 50 or 100 times for me.

Still getting one in one hundred odd messages working the Autofiltering folder boldening properly.

I've now set up another folder that get multiple mail daily to see how often it works in that folder.

Ok. Early days yet but I think I might have found something.

If any folder other than the New Mail folder is highlighted at the time of receiving mail, and then subsequently clicking on the New Mail folder to filter, autofiltered folders receiving new mail will not go bold.

But if the New Mail folder is active/open at the time of receiving mail, the autofiltered folders will go bold.

I'll do some more testing, to confirm this.

I can now confirm where the problem is.

If the New Mail folder is not active/highlighted when new mail is downloaded, subsequently clicking on the New Mail folder will cause the Autofilter to filter, but not highlight the receiving folders.

If the New Mail folder is active/highlighted, then any new mail received and autofiltered straight away, will highlight the receiving folders.

This has only been a problem since 4.52. With 4.52 autofiltering highlighting would work no matter what folder you had active when new mail was downloaded.
