    Mercury at PraktIT.Se

    Hi,
my name is Peter Strömblad, and I'm running a small ISP-company in Sweden. Personally I've been running Mercury and Pegasus Mail at different locations ever since 1991. When we started our ISP-hosting back in march 2000 Mercury was an obvious choice.

    Features we use
are smtp, pop3 and Imap as well as list services. Every night statistics from each of the installations is automatically e-mailed telling us how busy the system is, and how many errors in delivery there might have been. We also depend on the Loader functionality so that Mercury is refreshed every night by restarting on its own. This is due to that we synchronize alias-information, passwords, account info, local domains and lists from another administrative database every 20 minutes. In the future this will not be necessary since the daemon interface has gotten so powerful.

    Servers
are Intel Xeon based but not with much ram. They are all situated in 19" racks powered by battery UPSs. Each server is configured with auto-login behind double firewalls from Cisco. We haven't installed Mercury as a service due to that we do not want to add anything that might rock the stability of the system. I am proud to say, that since 2000 Mercury has never crashed! It is a rock solid software that makes me sleep well at night.

    Cheers / Peter

    Kind regards / Peter
