• Re: Prompt to complete Internet Mail Options at start-up every time

I have seen instances where you think permissions have been correctly set, and they have not. In particular, when moving folders from one machine to another, it is sometimes not enough to simply add a user account to the permissions list and grant them Full Control. Try the following and see if this helps: Open the Properties dialog for the ...

  • Re: Automatic Reply

Thomas R. Stephenson:...First thing that comes to mind is that there is nothing that shows a Mercury User Defined Gateway. Use PCONFIG.exe from the WinPMail program directory and check this out. Thomas - that was it! Because the pmail folder containing the mailboxes and the program had been copied between servers, and the old ...

  • Re: Automatic Reply

Thomas R. Stephenson: The auto reply is only available when running with Mercury and it appears that your system is setup so you are really in a single user mode using the build-in mailer to send the mail. You can manually edit this areply file to add the auto reply and then save it as areply.pm. Now if Mercury is delivering the ...

  • Re: Automatic Reply

Thomas R. Stephenson: Strange. How are you specifying the directory path? One of the major reasons this does not work is that the file can't be found. Use Help | About Pegasus Mail | Info and verify that the HOME and NEW mail directory paths as well as the program directory are properly pointing to the correct ...

  • Automatic Reply

Hello We have changed the way that we start Pegasus Mail (see this thread for details). We used to have it installed locally, but now start Pegasus Mail from a central network installation. This has resulted in unexpected behaviour. When Pegasus Mail was installed locally, setting up an automatic reply was straightforward: click ...

  • Re: File rename failure

Thanks, Thomas It was a permissions problem. I don't know how but the local administrator account (as opposed to the domain administrator account) had been removed from the mailbox folder's security permissions. I put it back, took ownership using the local admin account, then reset all permissions and now everything works again. Thanks ...

  • Re: File rename failure

Thanks for your reply. If anti-virus was restricting/blocking access to files, I would expect to see this problem more often and for it to be more widespread - i.e. affect other mailboxes. Today, Mercury generated another error for the same mailbox. Can anyone tell me what causes this error, please? If I have that ...

  • Re: File rename failure

Hi Rolf The sender may have got this message (I'm afraid that I don't know), but the failure message was delivered to the default Admin account on our server to which all errors are sent. There is anti-virus software on the server, but I doubt it is blocking access to any files. I've checked the AV logs, and nothing has been detected as ...

  • Re: Keeping settings between PC's

Fixed it (hooray!) The problem was that although I had created the new synonyms file with the changed address, and had copied it to the root of the PMAIL folder containing the mailboxes, I had not copied it to the default ..\Mercury\Mercury folder. Also, I had to stop and restart Mercury before the synonyms file was read properly. So it all works ...
